Dear Parents/Guardians,
Ninth grade is an important year because your student is earning credit towards high school graduation. To help you and your student prepare for what is ahead, we invite you to attend your student’s annual PCCR (Plan for College and Career Readiness) conference. The information you and your student will receive from this conference is very important. This year your PCCR conference will be an individual meeting with your counselor where the following items will be discussed:
- High School graduation requirements (electronic 4-year plan through Skyward)
- Various programs/opportunities Jordan School District offers
- Information about scholarships/Utah Futures website information
- Academic goals/plans for the future
Counselors meet with each 9th grade student and their parent(s). These meetings are approximately 20-minute appointments. Please be aware that appointments are scheduled back to back, and therefore need to begin and end on time. Our counselors meet with students in the following alphabet:
- Steve Cherry A – D steven.cherry@jordandistrict.org
- Jennifer Hawkes E – G jennifer.hawkes@jordandistrict.org
- Nicole Thurmond H – Mo nicole.thurmond@jordandistrict.org
- Michelle Sampson Mu – Ri michelle.sampson@jordandistrict.org
- Jennifer Whitney Ro – Z jennifer.whitney@jordandistrict.org
Your meeting will take place using the Zoom or the Google Hangout app to practice social distancing. To make these conferences more convenient for you, we are using the Skyward online scheduler. You will have the opportunity to schedule appointments from April 27, 2020 to May 22, 2020.
You will find step-by-step parent/guardian instructions outlining the process you will need to follow to schedule your student’s PCCR appointment via the below link. The scheduling window will open on April 22, 2020. If you do not have access to the internet, feel free to email your students counselor and we will be more than happy to schedule find an appointment time that works for you.
The number one predictor of student school success is parental involvement. Thank you for your support and we look forward to meeting with you and your student. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
Sincerely,
The Oquirrh Hills Counseling Team
